What is Sciforum?
Sciforum is an event planning platform that supports open science by offering the opportunity to host and participate in academic events. It provides an environment for scholarly exchange, discussion of topics of current interest, building of networks and establishing collaborations. Sciforum was launched in 2009 by MDPI, an academic open-access publisher with headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
Sciforum does not only offer the possibility to participate in events, but invites scientists to organize their own events. The organizers reduce their administrative efforts thanks to an online tool that supports all aspects of event organization, including setting up and maintaining the event website, managing the peer-review process, publishing the event proceedings, handling and coordinating the event schedule, registration, billing, sponsors, etc. Organizers can choose between normal conference and e-conference and whether they require administrative support from Sciforum staff.
Sciforum serves as a platform for event registrations, and for event abstract/paper submission and revision. Proceedings and presentations can be made available on Sciforum after the event.
E-Conferences are events held online that presenters and attendees can participate for free. While the event is running, participants can use Sciforum as a discussion forum on event papers and presentations. Proceedings and discussions are immediately archived on Sciforum.
